OVHcloud is a French cloud provider that manufactures its own servers, builds its own data centers, and deploys its own fiber-optic network, where most competitors rent data center space and buy hardware from third parties. That vertical integration underpins its position as Europe's leading cloud service provider, running 44 data centers across 4 continents for more than 1.6 million customers.

The Klaba family started the business in 1999. Control extends across every layer of the infrastructure stack: custom server configurations designed around water-cooling systems, data centers built to host thousands of servers in minimal space, and a global fiber network operated in house.

Domain registration sits inside that cloud ecosystem, with over 900 domain extensions available through an AFNIC-accredited service provider. Domains are the entry point; the differentiation is the hosting and cloud infrastructure that runs a site after registration, on OVHcloud hardware, in OVHcloud facilities, over the OVHcloud network.

Operations span the United States, France, Canada, Australia, Germany, Poland, the UK, Italy, Singapore, and India. Each data center enforces strict physical security, with building access limited to badged employees and full operator control over the premises. The approach has earned a "Leader" placement in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services and a "Contender" placement in IDC's Worldwide Public Cloud as a Service Vendor Assessment.

The 2019 rebrand from OVH to OVHcloud marked the shift from traditional hosting provider to cloud platform. The company positions itself around digital sovereignty, offering European businesses cloud services that keep data within regional borders without vendor lock-in.
