Identity Digital

Est. 2010 Β· Bellevue, U.S.

Identity Digital is the ICANN-designated registry operator for 271 TLDs, roughly 42% of all generic top-level domains and the most extensive portfolio in the industry. The range runs from practical extensions like .solutions and .technology to creative ones like .ninja and .wtf, covering nearly a quarter of the internet's new namespace.

Breadth is only part of the position. The company operates as a registry managing its own TLDs, as a registrar through Name.com, and as a backend registry services provider to other TLD operators. Domain Engine offers registry-neutral domain search that suggests the most relevant available domains based on customer searches, and Placement Plus optimizes TLD pricing and placement to increase registrar revenues.

Security services go past standard protections. The Domains Protected Marks List (DPML) defensively blocks trademarked brand registrations across the entire 271-TLD portfolio with a single set of credentials, replacing what would otherwise require thousands of individual defensive registrations. Registry Lock adds a further layer for high-value domains, and Homographic Blocking prevents lookalike registrations that could be used for phishing.

The registry services platform supports over 25 million domains globally, covering both the company's own TLDs and backend services for more than 180 other generic TLDs, country-code TLDs, and dotBrand domains. Cloud-based infrastructure runs from over 80 global data centers.

Name.com is the consumer-facing registrar brand, offering domain registration alongside email management and website hosting. That vertical integration covers the customer experience from domain discovery through ongoing management, while wholesale registrar services support over 1,800 ICANN-accredited registrars worldwide.

Identity Digital employs approximately 260 people and is owned by private equity firm Ethos Capital. Running both one of the largest TLD portfolios and the registry infrastructure behind competitors' TLDs makes it an unusual infrastructure player in the domain name ecosystem.
